Archives and Library Report V3 2021 – CHRS Archivist Bart Lee describes the current state of the CHRS and SoWP archives and library, highlighting resources unlikely to be found anywhere else.

All told, the SoWP Archives contain well over 100,000 pages, including everything from fold-out maps to letters marked “Return to Sender” to penants to large-format negatives to crumbling magazines to telegraph sounders to zip drives… You get the picture. Our triage strategy is to go through each box at a relatively quick first pass and cherry pick the most historically interesting materials to digitize. No doubt many worthy documents will remain for subsequent passes.
For now, we’ve listed everything we’ve processed (scanned or looked at closely but decided not to scan) and have them tabulated on a spreadsheet that we update regularly. Most of the scanned materials are available on the pages of this website. If you can’t find one you really want to see, or for higher resolution scans of the photos, please contact us via email as shown below.
The current spreadsheet can be found by clicking here: SOWP Document Inventory List 19Feb2022.
September 22 2019:
The SoWP Archives contains a collection of 127 medium or large format negatives and/or their contact prints stored in individual airmail envelopes with descriptions on each envelope. These historical photos have now been cataloged, though few of the images have so far been scanned. The catalog can be found at this link: Large Format Neg Catalog.
If you’re a wireless history buff, check back regularly: we’re constantly adding to and updating the list.
